Junior Chief of Staff

We have an exciting opportunity for a junior chief of staff to join our growing sports and lifestyle practice. We are seeking someone who has experience both as an executive assistant and within the public relations field. The ideal candidate will have experience with sports brands and properties with the proven ability to keep deliverables moving while generating media relations results. In this role, you will have the opportunity to support CEO and help move our clients’ business forward. You’ll play a critical role in supporting our sports and lifestyle teams by handling internal and external communications, ensuring excellence in delivery, clear communication, and high-quality deliverables.

 

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Schedule meetings and consult on time management

  • Support the CEO in caring for their team, peers, stakeholders, and professional network

  • Arrange business travel across varying time zones

  • Arrange and prepare for meetings on behalf of the CEO

  • Liaise with people at all levels including Senior Management and Executives

  • Collate weekly People team for the weekly team meetings and the direct report 1:1s

  • Ad-hoc research and information gathering

  • Drive media relations results across a roster of sports and lifestyle accounts 

  • Play a key role in planning and implementing account activities, including media relations, events, program implementation, reporting, etc.

  • Proactively provide quality assurance for all clients deliverables (I.E. proofreading, fact-checking, research, reference, citations) 

  • Assist in moving projects forward with a proven ability to manage deliverables and hit deadlines 

 

Requirements

  • Prior experience supporting executives at the C-Level

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing or related field preferred

  • You have excellent communication skills, time management skills, and a high proficiency in both written and spoken English

  • You understand the importance of extreme discretion, tact, and confidentiality

  • Expert level Microsoft Office: PowerPoint, Word, and Excel skills

  • Proven organizational skills (especially in calendar management and complex travel itineraries); gained through the above

  • You display a proactive approach to work, able to anticipate and pre-empt problems before they occur

  • Proven track record of generation media relations results with a portfolio of sports and lifestyle related clips 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment 

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and manage priorities 

  • Proven ability to develop press materials

Account Supervisor - Food, Beverage & Travel

We have an opportunity for a Senior Account Executive/Account Supervisor specializing in food, beverage and travel out of our New York office. This role is a day-to-day client contact and media relations wiz, who ensures that communications programs are carried out with perfection. A true self-starter and someone looking for an opportunity to grow. 

 

Primary Responsibilities  

  • Strategic account management, including the planning and execution of media programs 

  • Serve as a primary, day-to-day, client contact and provide strong client counsel on tactical matters linked to strategic plans; anticipate client needs and prepare in advance 

  • Interact with senior level colleagues and clients and troubleshoot clients’ problems as they arise 

  • Drive media results for clients across your portfolio and rally the team to take action 

  • Demonstrate the ability to apply public relations techniques beyond media relations in response to client briefs 

  • Maintain a thorough, demonstrated understanding of clients’ businesses and industries; actively follow and understand emerging issues, trends and news impacting your clients’ business, and proactively advise the team and client regarding how best to leverage or address these developments 

  • Proactively generate new ideas and opportunities to support client objectives and stories; ensure client program success; participate actively in account team strategy sessions and brainstorms 

  • Moderate media interviews; assist with media training for clients; initiate implementation of media events such as press conferences, briefings and media tours; serve as the senior on-site agency contact for clients’ events 

  • Facilitate teamwork and learning opportunities by delegating and involving junior staff whenever possible; review materials drafted by junior staffers; supervise media reporting and monitoring; ensure that each member of the team understands their role and how they fit together as part of the overall plan; evaluate the team’s effort collectively and individually by promptly reviewing work and providing constructive feedback 

  • Report to senior management on progress of team members and accounts; serve as the liaison between senior management and staff 

  • Manage up to your supervisors and account leads regarding progress on deliverables, media outreach processes, and actively offer solutions to pivot where needed or enhance the project 

 

Education and Experience Requirements 

  • At least 5 years of experience working in communications, preferably food, beverage and travel at a public relations agency  

  • Experience working with or a passion for food, beverage and travel industries  

  • Superior oral and written communication skills; strong proofreading and editing ability  

  • Demonstrated proficiency in media relations (story pitching to traditional media and digital influencers, writing releases and bylined articles, ability to find creative angles and create highly targeted media strategies and pitches)  

  • Maintain a professional, client-ready demeanor and presence; keep a high standard of etiquette in all communications and interactions  

  • Experience in providing guidance to entry level staffers; strong team building and mentorship aptitude  

  • Maintain knowledge and a demonstrated understanding of industry publications, national top tier and business press, broadcast media
